something for your christmas list?

Why not ask the love of your life for this?

And then when you've bashed him over the head with it,
treat yourself to some of this.......!

LOVE a walk in the country

We took the cheeselets out for an evening walk
last night up to Ivinghoe Beacon.

The sun was going down and the shadows were long.

The views were spectacular and we could see
for miles and miles.

zorbing

oh what fun the large-haired eldest had spinning around in his
hamster ball bobbing on the water.

I just wished there was a mummy-sized one so I could have joined in............

lovely packaging - RNLI

We all love a trip to the seaside and there's nothing
like sitting on the beach and looking out to sea
on a hot(?) summer's day in blighty.

The RNLI have introduced a wonderful new set of
confectionery and biscuit packaging designed by
SupaFrank.
They were briefed to remind visitors of 'beautiful days by the sea'. The illustrations and packaging are just wonderfully simple
and in buying some of the delicious goodies we can
help toward saving lives at sea, yum!

treaure hunting - lovely book

Another lovely book from the groaning shelves.
This book dates from 1941 and it illustrates how to
teach art to children.

There are some wonderful pages of typography
and illustration in here.

etsy love - mr finch

mr finch creates the most beautiful creatures, insects and
beasts out of old fabric treasures.

'I love to hunt for things for my work...the lost, found and forgotten
all have places in what I make'.

One of his exquisite moths adorns my wall and I'm sure it won't
be long till he finds a friend to flutter alongside........

Stunning!

lovely ad........

This campaign for Renfe (Spanish Railroads)
by ad agency SRA Rushmore is just fantastic.

They show the fast passing colourful landscapes of Spain
in the guise of pantone colour sheets.

Lovely!

illustration love - paul thurlby

I love each and every one of Paul Thurlby's wonderful illustrations.

He uses old books and postcards as the backgrounds of his illustrations and his inspiration comes from mid-century illustration and design

All so lovely, go check them out here

lost posters at Notting Hill tube station

I stumbled upon this flickr site which holds images of posters
from the 1950's found at Notting Hill Tube Station
when it was being renovated last year.

What a wonderful record of advertising and graphics from that era.
I love them!

orla kiely doc martens

I was a huge lover and wearer of DMs in the 1980's.
I wore them with vintage 1940s frocks, black tights
and fuzzed-up hair!!!

Lookeeeee here..........Orla has designed some beauties.

Not sure I could get away with wearing them at
my age but they are lovely.

around the house

bits and bobs around the house

the shed

or as we now call it The Chapel (Capel Bach)
We inherited this lovely wooden abode from Dave & Helen

We painted it black and it sits under the huge tree at
the bottom of the garden

Mr Cheese wants to fill it with tools, nails, wood
and 'bloke stuff'
(nooooooooo!)
but I like it with the battered old chairs and fairy lights......
