homework
My creative talents were pushed to the limit at the weekend when my large haired eldest presented us with his homework. Make a working model of a sperm!!!! Several plastic easter eggs, ping pong balls and papier mache later, ta da........ a beautiful sperm. I don't remember doing this when I was 11. Apparently one child's sperm model was as big as a chair..............that's a hell of a lot of papier mache!

my thoughts exactly, ha ha ha
Australian Etsy seller 'my bearded pigeon' created this gem for a friend who was
recently diagnosed. I think she puts it beautifully.
She sells the pattern via her etsy store and gives the money to cancer research:

dennis severs' house
This wonderful Georgian Terrace house near Spitalfields Market, was owned and created by American Dennis Severs, who lived in the house until his death in 1999. He created it as a 'still-life drama', an installation, where one can enter, as if stepping through a painting, into the imaginary world of Mr & Mrs Jervis. In the dining room the table is set as though they have just finished dinner and wandered off to another room. You are aware of the chattering and daily life, but it's some way in the distance and you can't quite touch it.
At Christmas the house opens up to a magical tour (available 21st nov - 6th jan).
A special 'silent' tour is also available with champagne around the fireside to finish.
Thanks for the link Mrs H x

lovely location
I found this beautiful railway carriage in Norfolk for hire as a location for photo shoots. It's wonderfully calm and simple and oh so stylish........sigh! I'll bear it in mind if Mrs Cheese ever does a catalogue shoot.

Lovely Macmillan nurse
I've just had confirmation that I have lymphoedema. It is mainly in my breast and it has also promoted an infection. I've been prescribed antibiotics for 6 weeks, and, depending on how I get on, possibly 6 months to a year of them. I will also have to have physio to help with drainage. All in all a very painful thing. Haven't been feeling too great the last few days but tried to shrug it off. Now I know why!!!!
lymphoedema
Grrrrrrr! I have developed a swollen hand and fingers and am in some pain. It looks likely that it's lymphoedema. All my lymph nodes were taken out of my left arm as they contained cancer cells which means I have to be extra careful with that arm (no blood pressure taken, no bloods ever again and extra care not to burn or cut it), however, something has happened to it and it really started to hurt a few days ago and my fingers look like fat sausages. Just another hurdle to get over........Ouch! Am hoping the nice Macmillan nurse will see me today and advise me.

her fearful symmetry
I'm currently reading Her Fearful Symmetry, by Audrey Niffenegger (author of The Time Traveller's wife). I have about 30(ish) pages to read and I don't think I want to finish it. I've a feeling I'm going to be disappointed......mmmmmm!
I've just read One Day by David Nicholls and I LOVED it. If you haven't already read it, put it on your Christmas list. Sad, funny and thoroughly enjoyable, I want to read it again.
