back to school

I love this time of year as I remember the warm, fuzzy feeling of getting a new set of coloured pencils and smelly rubbers and laying them all out neatly before squashing them into a new denim pencil case which looked like the rear end of a pair of jeans. The Cheeselets were squabbling over a ruler this morning so I've promised my large-haired eldest I'd go and buy him a new one later. However, wouldn't it be fab to buy something like these....... nope far too nice for a 10 and 11 year old, nice for a kind old mummy though!

  1. Best pencil case EVER was one made of plastic which looked like a calculator- it was huge!!

  2. That one wasn't sold in Woolies in Rhyl. I also had a collection of pencil sharpeners as well as smelly rubbers and on my denim bum pencil case I scrawled 'I love the Fonz', and I did.........

  3. at the start of each term I would often try and sneak a look at girls' furry cases, but strangely they never wanted me to see....

  4. my friend Tanya Mann from school managed to get on Swap Shop to show off her massive collection of smelly rubbers! That was very exciting in 1980's north Finchley.

  6. I would have given ANYTHING to go on Swap Shop. I had a huge collection of key rings. They're probably still in my mother's loft collecting dust. Maybe in 30 years the cheeselets can take them to an Antiques Roadshow.........'mmmmmm been in the family long?'
